Pineda – Pine Tar Incident: Whatever.

There’s really nothing to see here.  If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to check out the story and video, but there’s nothing really insightful that anyone can add that we haven’t already heard.  Michael Pineda is an idiot, but you already knew that.  Tons of baseball players try this, but you already knew that also.

Suspension for 7-10 days, his numbers might go down a little, but, after a few starts, he’ll probably use it again and be smarter about where to hide it.  It’s pretty insane that Sportscenter is going HAM with this story — actually, no it’s not, Sportscenter always beats everything into the ground, especially if it involves Red Sox-Yankees.  But is it really necessary for ESPN to have Doug Glanville do a 5 minutes Sportscenter piece on how to use pine tar?  I’m gonna go with NO.

  1. I don’t understand why we consistently allow these guys to gain an edge. We are okay with pitchers using pine tar but not okay when batters put a cork in their bat. Neither should be okay but it seems like pitchers always have the edge, and this is a big problem in the MLB. We can’t continue to turn a blind eye to this stuff. I know it’s not going to change, but a guy can always hope. Also, it’d be awesome if you could take a look at my post because I’d love to hear what you have to say http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2014/04/24/old-school/
